When using ball knobs DIN 319 form L and M, the thread on the shaft is not necessary.
They are driven on by light blows with a soft-face hammer, the shaft end should be slightly rounded or chamfered (30°).
Before mounting the ball knobs form L, the clamping sleeve must be inserted into the bore. Furthermore, it must be ensured that the knob is placed vertically or driven up parallel to the axis when striking. Otherwise there is a risk that the ball knob will break.
Ball knobs form M represent a very low-priced version.
