Electroplated diamond and CBN mounted points are used for both wet and dry grinding. Cylindrical points with carbide shank are used for stationary internal grinding. Compared to the steel shaft, the carbide shaft has a modulus of elasticity (Young's modulus) that is about three times higher. This describes how strongly a body deforms under the action of a load. In terms of internal grinding, higher stock removal rates, better surfaces and more precise form and position tolerances can be achieved with carbide shanks. N = not stepped shank
