HepcoMotion's double-sided reinforced rails are available in three precision classes and are made of high-quality rolling bearing steel. To provide an extremely wear-resistant surface, they are hardened on the V-running surfaces. Other areas remain unhardened for individual adjustment. The qualities P1 and P2 are ground as shown. The P3 grade is precision drawn and provides sufficient accuracy for many applications. See System Selection & 21. mounting holes are accurately positioned so customer mounting holes can be pre-drilled. Undrilled rails are also available.
Reinforced rails can be bolted directly to the mounting surface of a machine. A center keyway is included for easy alignment with Hepco locating pins or customer supplied accessories. If lubrication devices are not used, the reference edges can be aligned on a machined stop edge.
The rigidity of the reinforced rail allows it to be used as a self-supporting member or structural element in a machine. Except for the smallest size, all double-sided reinforced rails are available with a precision-machined rack for drive purposes in combination with HepcoMotions pinions, motors and gear-driven carrier plates*4. The racks are pinned to the rails and become a fully functional element when bolted to the mounting surface. The racks can consist of multiple lengths precisely mounted on a single rail.
