Latching plungers are used for indexing holes.
Use is limited to applications that do not require precise positioning. The large stroke of the indexing pin allows a wide range of applications, e.g. as a door latch.

Operation
Lifting the latch retracts the locking pin. Turning the latch locks the retracted plunger pin.
