The tapered thread of the oil sight glasses allows a metallic seal. When tightening, the tapered male thread R jams with the corresponding cylindrical female thread Rp. At the reference plane a, the male R thread has the same thread diameter as the female Rp thread, so that it can be screwed in up to a by hand. The force tightening by means of a tool increases the screw-in length and seals the screw connection. In addition, a sealant (hemp or Teflon tape) is usually used.
