Folding handles are used, for example, on cranks and handwheels when the handle must not be locked in the operating position. To bring the handle into this position, it must first be swivelled through 90° against a torsion spring. It is then pushed into a lock in the axial direction against the spring force. Fixed in this way and maintaining the axial force, the handle can be cranked. After "releasing", the compression spring pushes the handle out of the lock and the torsion spring swivels it back again.
