Cardan shafts with plain bearings not only bridge the misalignment of two shafts, but also enable length compensation, which allows a corresponding extension dimension l2 depending on the total length l1. The power is transmitted via two universal joints DIN 808 (form EG), a splined shaft and a sliding sleeve. In the case of cardan shafts, it is essential to ensure that the splined shaft and sliding sleeve are correctly fitted together: the markings => <= must be opposite each other. Wrongly assembled cardan shafts result in an uneven output and lead to rapid wear.
