The moving parts of the stainless steel universal joints DIN 808 are not surface-treated, i.e. they are not case-hardened, which is why the possible applications are considerably lower than those of universal joints made of steel. The guidelines for the selection of universal joints with plain bearings can therefore only be used to a limited extent for the stainless steel version. Speeds above 200 min-1 can already be critical. With stainless steel universal joints, adequate lubrication is particularly important, if necessary using a protective sleeve filled with grease.
