Clamping with wedge clamps is done via the cap screw and the clamping wedge, which moves the two clamping jaws outwards. When the screw is loosened, the clamping wedge is returned via an internal return spring, thus releasing the tension. Wedge clamps are optimal for multiple clamping, but can also be used for clamping a single workpiece. The slotted hole in the clamping wedge is used to compensate for workpiece tolerances.
